FOSS4GE 2025 Excursion Day - Herzegovina Food & Culture Tour

Short description of the excursion
Start the day in Blagaj, a charming town 12 km from Mostar, famous for the Buna river spring and the historic Dervish Tekke House built into a cliff. Enjoy authentic Bosnian coffee and schnapps in a unique setting.
Did you know? The Buna’s source ranks among the largest springs in Europe, yielding approximately 30 m³/s of exceptionally cold and pristine water.

Continue to the spectacular Kravice Waterfalls, a natural wonder perfect for photography, sightseeing, or even a refreshing swim during the hot summer months.

Next, visit the Franciscan Monastery in Humac, home to the oldest museum in Bosnia and Herzegovina, featuring the famous Humac Stone Tablet - the oldest preserved Croatian monument in BiH.

Lunch will be served at Tabak Museum & Restaurant, the first museum dedicated to Herzegovinian tobacco culture, where you will enjoy a traditional Herzegovinian meal in a unique setting.

Final stop is in Paoča at Podrumi Andrija Winery, where you will experience a wine tasting session showcasing the finest wines from Herzegovina, celebrating the region’s Mediterranean climate and centuries-old tradition.

- 09:00 Gathering in front of the conference venue (University of Mostar)
- 09:15 Bus departure to Blagaj
- 09:45 Visit Blagaj Tekke and Buna spring, coffee tasting
- 11:15 Departure to Kravice Waterfalls
- 12:00 Stop at Kravice Waterfalls (swimming possible)
- 13:30 Departure to Humac Monastery and Museum
- 14:00 Visit to Humac Museum (Humac Stone Tablet)
- 15:00 Lunch at Tabak Museum & Restaurant
- 16:30 Wine tasting at Podrumi Andrija Winery in Paoča
- 18:00 Return to Mostar
- ca 18:30 Arrival at the conference venue
The excursion price (70 €) includes:
